Wandayi Gives Major Fuel Assurance Ahead of Key Price Adjustment

June 11, 2026

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi said the government has maintained stable fuel supply ahead of the monthly price review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

In a statement on Wednesday, June 10, four days before the review, Wandayi said the government secured adequate stocks to support uninterrupted distribution of petroleum products across the country.

He added that the stability resulted from sustained interventions designed to prevent shortages and keep importation and distribution running smoothly.

“Kenya has maintained a fairly stable position, with decisive steps to ensure an adequate and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products taken from time to time,” he stated.

CS Wandayi added that the government has already secured fuel deliveries through the end of July, which will ensure an uninterrupted supply and protect Kenyans from the shortages and disruptions seen in other countries.

The CS said the secured shipments will guarantee steady fuel availability in the short term, especially as EPRA prepares for its next monthly price review. He noted that this timing matters because price adjustments could affect how fuel moves through the market.

Wandayi said EPRA will reduce diesel prices for the June-July cycle. He explained that the planned adjustment forms part of broader measures to cushion consumers and businesses from high energy costs while preserving stability in the petroleum sector amid global market uncertainty.

“In line with the commitment made by His Excellency the President to the public transport sector and other industry players, the government will ensure further reduction in diesel prices in the next monthly review,” Wandayi said.
