The new matatu laws and regulations that seek to have every matatu fitted with new digital speed governors have made and overnight multi millionaire.
Businessman David Kiarie, director at Dalcom Kenya on Kwale road in Ngara imported a huge consignment of the digital speed governors, well aware of the impending huge demand following the implementation of the new rules. Normally priced at Sh 20,000 each, Mr Kiarie was selling the governors to last minute panic buyers at Sh 40,ooo. On Monday last week, he sold over 5000 speed governors which raked in a handsome sum of around Sh175 million in just under 24 hours.
He revealed he is expecting another consignment.
“I still have 2000 speed governors in my stores which I hope to sell in the coming days. I am also expecting another consignment in due course,” he said.
