On Monday morning, news broke that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations had summoned 4 cabinet secretaries from Mt. Kenya region to their Kiambu road headquarters.
It was first reported that the four CSs had been summoned because they had been meeting to plot on how to block Deputy President William Ruto from ascending to the presidency.
The four are Sicily Kariuki (Health), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Peter Munya (Industrialization) and their Agriculture counterpart Mwangi Kiunjuri.
It was said that they had been meeting at a city hotel to plan how to stop Ruto from visiting Central region.
After the session with detectives, Industrialization CS Peter Munya addressed the media, where he revealed the allegations to be much gross than previously thought. Apparently, they have been accused of plotting to assassinate the Deputy President, and have held several meetings at Nairobi’s La Mada hotel towards that goal.
He revealed that they received a text message summoning them to the DCI on Sunday. Munya was named as the ‘chairman’ of this group.
In an even bigger twist, Munya stated that it was in fact DP Ruto himself who called the DCI to accuse his cabinet secretaries of plotting to kill him.
”They have confirmed to us that the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya, made a call and complained that some cabinet secretaries and some other senior government officers, have been meeting at La Mada [to hatch] plans to kill him.” Munya said.
