The Raila-led Orange Democratic Movement political party is finally moving houses this week.

Currently based along Menelik Road in Kilimani, Nairobi, the political outfit will be unveiling its new headquarters on Loyangalani Drive in Lavington on Thursday.

Christened ‘Chungwa House’ and valued at Sh180 million, the new ODM base is located 300 metres from the ANC party headquarters.

ODM communication director Philip Etale said that the office is fully owned by the party and not a lease like the current offices, owned by Raila’s former aide Caroli Omondi.

In 2018, Caroli declined to renew the lease and gave the party up to December 3 to vacate the premises, after a reported fallout with ODM.

But in June, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen refuted the claims that the party was being kicked out of the property due to bad blood between the two parties.

The relocation is part of ODM’s re-branding strategy ahead of the 2022 general election.

During the launch on Thursday, the party will also unveil its Digital Membership Registration programme, the Star newspaper reports.
