A shocking report from Bomet County has it that a father allegedly killed his daughter for selling a chicken without his permission in Simotwet village.
Confirming the incident, Mugango location Chief John Cheruiyot said the father, 50-Year-Old Jackson Kirui together with one of the villagers, forcefully tied his 20-year-old daughter, and locked her in the house before they descended on her with blows and sticks for more than an hour.
According to the area chief, it took hours for the neighbours to convince Kirui to forgive the girl and let her out of the house.
He said when the man finally agreed to open the house, the girl was unconscious and bleeding profusely due to the thorough beating.
She was rushed to Longisa County Referral Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Bomet police visited the scene and recorded statements from some of the villagers after the suspect fled following the heinous crime. A manhunt has since been launched for the suspect.
A villager revealed that the deceased sold the chicken last week for Sh500.
The girl’s body was moved to Longisa County Referral mortuary.
