Monday morning and Kenyans wake up to a now very common newspaper headline – corruption.

According to the Auditor General, about Sh11.3 billion has been lost or misappropriated in Nairobi county.

We all knew it was a matter of time before a mega corruption scandal was announced in the capital, considering the huge budget Kidero has and the little/non-existent work he does.

Nairobi is a disaster. It is dirty and disorganized. Everything is breaking apart, including the roads at the heart of the CBD. Hawkers are everywhere, and there’s no longer any order.

Compare that to Kigali, Rwanda. The city is so clean and beautiful that it’s hard to believe it is in Africa.

There are no garbage pile ups like Nairobi, the roads are clean and well marked, sidewalks are provided, and incredibly, they have green grass.

The one time Kidero toyed with the idea of planting grass, the programme ended up neglected. Nairobi has the biggest budget of any city in this side of Africa, but also the most ineffective governor we’ve ever seen.

Here are some pics of Kigali. This is not just a single street. Most if not all their streets look like this. Compare this to what we have.

This before and after video of the road from the city to the airport shows just how big a transformation it has been.
