As more services enter the taxi hailing business, Uber has pulled a first one on competition. It is already the market leader but is not sitting pretty.
Uber has partnered with Corporate Helicopters to start offering a chopper hailing service in Nairobi and Mombasa.
On Sunday 4th September, Uber will give 6 winners a free chopper ride to fly alongside Eric Omondi, Larry Madowo or Huddah Monroe in Nairobi.
Winners in Mombasa will fly with Chef Alim DJ Lenium or Miss Global Kenya, Tima Keilah.
The Nairobi winners will go on a tour of the city and the Great Rift Valley, while Mombasa winners will explore the expansive coastline.
The chopper hailing service will then officially start, but they have not revealed the pricing. It is however expected to be a few tens of thousands.
In Los Angeles for example, Uber charges $500 (Sh50,000) for a 45 minutes ride.
