sonko-dadOne year on, Nairobi senator Mike Sonko is still reeling from the loss of his dad, Gideon Kioko Kivanguli.

The senator on Tuesday penned a heartwarming letter in memory of his father who died last September.

He recalled how his family watched in tears as his dad passed on.

“Our tearful eyes watched as you slowly passed away though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay,” he said.

“Our hearts still ache in sadness and secret tears still flow when we remember you. Living without you is almost impossible,” he continued.

Sonko’s dad died at the Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted to the intensive care unit.

The senator remembered him as a man of excellence and great love.

Here’s the full letter:

IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR LATE BELOVED DAD (1ST ANNIVERSARY).

Dad,
Days have turned into months and months haven’t turned into one year since you painfully departed from us. Our tearful eyes watched as you slowly passed away though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay!

You did not get to say goodbye to your beloved children, it was God’s wish but we believe we will one day meet again. Our hearts still ache in sadness and secret tears still flow when we remember you. Living without you is almost impossible, in life we loved you and in death we do the same.

Dad, you were a man of excellence and of great love and we thank God almighty for letting us be part of your life. Forever loved and missed by your wives, children, grandchildren, in-laws, relatives and friends. May God bless you and reward you richly for you generosity.

REST IN PEACE DAD. WE THANK GOD FOR YOUR LIFE WE KNOW YOU ARE WITH US WATCHING KEENLY OVER US TILL WE MEET AGAIN.
