pscuFour directors of the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) were on Wednesday suspended from office.

In a memo signed by the deputy Head of Public Service Nzioka Waita, President Kenyatta sent the four packing over what sources say is ‘releasing uncertified information to the public’.

Those affected are Digital and Diaspora Communications Director Dennis Itumbi, Senior Director Public Communications Munyori Buku, Head of messaging Erick Ng’eno and James Kinyua, who handled the Branding and Events Directorate. State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu is the only one retained.

Affected staff received text messages on Wednesday instructing them not to report to work and that more information would be provided upon President’s Uhuru’s return to Nairobi from Botswana.

According to some sources, PSCU will be reconstituted in the shortest time possible.

It is also rumoured that the affected directors will form part of Uhuru’s reelection team, or be redeployed within government.
