The media fraternity has been left in mourning following the passing of Swahili news anchor Ahmed Darwesh.
Darwesh succumbed to diabetes at Mater hospital last evening. It was quite unexpected considering he anchored Sunday’s news. However yesterday, his condition became bad and he did not leave his South C home. He was rushed to Mater after being found very sick, and was soon pronounced dead.
Darwesh has been at KTN for many years and has mentored many big names in the media today, among them Larry Madowo who led the tributes.
Here’s how Twitter mourned him.
Why, Ahmed Darwesh? He dropped me home daily before I got a car & looked out for me as I started out. So long, Daru pic.twitter.com/Qxuobh5Z0t

After anchoring KTN Leo, Ahmed Darwesh would wait for me to finish editing my 9pm biz story so he could drop me home. It was out of his way!

He was a popular prime time anchor, I was a struggling business reporter, I shouldn't even have been on his radar. But he looked out for me
