Diego is an anti-poaching canine tasked with keeping poachers at bay and protecting rhinos at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya- the home of the last male northern white rhino in the world named Sudan.
Diego is one of a number of dogs deployed at the conservancy to protect its wildlife by deterring, detecting and detaining poachers. One dog can do the work of a 70-person search team and can work in darkness.
A short video launched by Fauna and Flora International shows just how effective and ruthless Diego can be. The stunning footage was filmed using a camera mounted on a dog harness.
‘Good boy Diego’ is a cross between a Belgian Malinois (father) and a Dutch shepherd (mother) and can reach speeds of upto 40 mph. He is an absolute beast.
