For the better part of Wednesday, supporters of the government’s opposition party, CORD, took to the streets to rally their support behind striking Kenyan teachers. Opposition chiefs Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka led the rally at Uhuru Park with a strong message to the government to obey the court order and give teachers the 50-60 percent pay rise as awarded by the court.
CORD MPs showed up at the rally in full combat gear dressed up in school uniform intent on making a statement. Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa were among the first to show off their school uniform looks, as photos went viral on social media.
