Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was involved in a scuffle with MCA Cleophas Malala at a burial ceremony in Matungulu on Saturday.

Malala who is aspiring to be the county senator took to the stage and asked Oparanya to explain why Kakamega Finance executive Paul Otsola is still in office even after he was mentioned in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s list of shame and subsequently asked by the county assembly to step aside following the Sh200 million irregularly given to Mumias Sugar Company by the county government.

Oparanya, who was seated next to CORD leader Raila Odinga, marched to the podium where he almost went physical as he struggled to grab the mic from Malala. His supporters joined in forcing Malala to flee the scene. It took nearly 30 minutes to calm the crowd.
