As a result of the weekend massacre of 28 travellers in Mandera, civil rights groups took to the street yesterday to protest.
The protest dubbed #OccupyHarambeeAvenue was led by activist Boniface Mwangi. Its aim was to compel those in charge of security to take responsibility, failure to which the president should fire them.
Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale was also present as the protesters carried crosses, coffins and large banners along Harambee Avenue. As that was going on it is alleged that some youth were hired to counter the protesters.
Here are photos of how the day unfolded.
