Remember Emily Wanjiru? The 6 year old girl who stood before the President and his guests buzzing with confidence and splendidly recited a poem and amazed everyone.
The President’s daughter, as she is referred to, became the darling of the country, more so after the airing of her sad story which showed her living in abject poverty at Gachororo slum in Juja. Her life changed for the better after that, as the President came to her rescue. She got a new home and financial support with the promise of being enrolled in a new school.
The talented Emily has now reported to her new school but she will be starting in September because she is bound by Gachororo Primary School having qualified for the National Music Festival to be staged in Mombasa next month.
You can be sure Emily will find St Petroc Premier School Runyenjes a million times better than Gachororo. The infrastructure is just wow.
