On Wednesday 18, President Uhuru Kenyatta held talks with Hon. Avigdor Liberman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel at State House. The Israeli government has offered to increase its cooperation with the Uhuruto government especially in the security sector.
This was revealed by Hon Liberman who told the president that his government will help the Jubilee government deal with the escalating insecurity in the country and stem out Al shabaab terrorists.
He noted that terror groups are now networking and that it is only through sharing of information and technology between Israel and Kenya that will bring quicker solutions to the Al Shabaab menace.
“We need to reduce bureaucracy on issues of sharing security information , the same terror groups like HAMAS, ISIS, Boko Haram and Al Shabaab share information and network to cause evil; we therefore don’t need too much formal systems which sometimes hinders those involved in responding to security threats,” said Mr Avigdor.
He said Israel signed two agreements with Kenya on regular consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs and also on cooperation between Kenyan Red Cross and Israel Magen David Adom regarding training of Kenyan paramedics and ambulance services.
