William Makali Wamalwa, son of the late former vice-president Michael Kijana Wamalwa, died Sunday, with his uncle Robert Wamalwa confirming the 33-year-old’s passing on Monday.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa has also confirmed that his nephew, William Wamalwa, died on Sunday evening at Crystal Hospital in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
Eugene said William collapsed at his Kitale home in Milimani Estate before he was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“He collapsed at around 5.30pm and was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead,’’ Eugene told The Standard.
Speaking at the former VP’s home in Milimani Estate, the CS said he had spoken with the deceased the day before he died. Eugene Wamalwa said the death came as a big shock to the family.
“It is a shock to the family. We spoke on Saturday. He was in a good health,’’ he said.
William Makali, who was the third born in his family, was a second-year student at the University of Nairobi where he was pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
He will be laid to rest at the family’s Three Rivers farm in Saboti on December 14, 2019.
