The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday hosted Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru at his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi, sparking mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media.
After the meeting, the two leaders issued statements saying they discussed matters handshake and BBI.
“Met with Governor Anne Waiguru at Capitol Hill Square and had a discussion on national cohesion and inclusivity,” Raila tweeted.
On her part, the former Devolution CS said: “Had a meeting with Raila Odinga at Capital Hill Square earlier today.”
“We deliberated on the spirit of the handshake and it’s intention to move this nation to a better future through the BBI. A cohesive Nation and one in harmony can never go wrong,” she wrote on Facebook.
However, a majority of Kenyans online were not convinced that the two leaders were only discussing the BBI report.
With Raila and Waiguru seemingly developing a newfound political friendship – after the latter campaigned for ODM’s Imran Okoth in Kibera byelection-, some netizens speculated that they are forging an alliance ahead of the 2022 elections.

Chief giver of all forgivenesses. People’s Cleanser. Thank you for forgiving Anna – she never stole from NYS.

National cohesion and inclusivity do not depend on her.
She is an individual. The conversations y’all need to be having are on the national reparations she needs to do i.e. IFMIS, NYS 1 and 2 so that economic recovery is at least a possibility.— Hic sunt dracones (@EMungau) December 3, 2019

I am a very sad and utterly disappointing Kenyan, but as we have been forced to learn, disappointment has been a part of many Kenyans. How do you blend with a woman who is known to all Kenyans as the LOOT-MISTRESS of NYS. @DavidNdii should comment.
