Swahili news anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga appears to be handling her sack at K24 rather well.
The TV personality was among over 100 employees who were deemed redundant by the media-max owned TV station in a notice issued on 30th September 2019.
Responding to the layoff, Mwanaisha has allayed any fears of a crisis over losing her job saying the news anchor job was more of a part-time side hustle.
“For me, K24 TV was part-time. I am a full-time caterer and I own three restaurants. K24 was a hobby and I used to work like 12 hours the whole month. That was a side hustle, I have my main hustle and that is where my focus is. I am opening a new restaurant soon before the end of the year,” she said.
Taking to social media, Mwanaisha posted pictures of her lovely family, emphasizing that her husband Danson Mungatana and their four children are her first priority.
One photo showed Mwanaisha and Mungatana looking into each other’s eyes in a romantic gaze, while another showed the Swahili journalist spending time with her three daughters on a supposed movie night.
“#FamilyFirst .#movienight🎬 #Blessed #crownedforsuccess,” she captioned her post in all-hashtags.
The post followed an official announcement of her exit at K24 on Thursday in which she hinted at returning to our television screens soon.
“Hi Good people, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support @k24tv #K24Wikendi but again God has other bigger plans for me away from K24tv. Its been a great experience for me working with a great team of journalists and the shows I have hosted have been memorable. But now I have to focus on my passion #Eventsandcatering #AryannasSwahiliCuisine but very soon will meet again #ScreenNextToYou .Thank you and be blessed.Inshallah.”
