A woman is nursing serious injuries sustained during an attack by her husband in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

The suspect, Henry Kamande, reportedly attacked his 51-year-old wife Angela Wamaitha at Kamweli village in Makutano after returning home from prison.

Kamande had served four years at Mwea Mission Prison for attacking another woman with an arrow.

When he returned home, Kamande is said to have demanded money from the sale of tomatoes harvested from the family farm. A disagreement ensued before the suspect slashed his wife using a panga.

The victim, a teacher at Gitune primary school, was rescued from the attack by her son who then rushed her to hospital.

The son, 26-year-old Paul Waruri, said his criminal father also threatened him not to ever step foot on their farm saying he would kill them.

A friend to the victim, Ann Njeri, told Citizen Digital that this is the second time that Kamande had attacked his wife.

Doctors at Mwea Hospital said the woman is in stable condition.
