It’s been less than six months since Afro-pop boyband Sauti Sol unveiled their protégés, Sol Generation, and the fast-rising stars are already making major international moves.
The Sol Generation ensemble has inked a deal with Dutch airline KLM to compose a six-track album dubbed ‘1919 to Forever’ to commemorate KLM’s inception a century ago.
The Kenyan record label that houses the vastly talented singers, BenSoul, Nviiiri the Storyteller, Crystal Asige and Kaskazini band, has been tasked with producing an album with a touch of love, escaping the rat race, communal celebrations, and real-life issues the common Kenyan faces.
Sol Generation Records inked a 1-year deal, with the ‘1919 to Forever’ set to drop today, October 9, 2019, exclusively on the KLM Kenya Facebook page.
The first track off the album is Crystal Asige’s debut single under Sol Generation titled ‘Lenga’ which is expected to drop today.
“Are you ready for #1919toForever album? It will be available exclusively on KLM Kenya Facebook page on October 9th. Lenga is @crystalasige‘s debut single and it’s gonna drop the same day so go ahead and Like their page as you stay tuned. LENGA is her debut single, a track that will feature on #1919toForever album by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines,” said Sol Generation.
Other tracks on the album include Kaskazini’s ‘If I Had Your Number’ and Bensoul’s ‘Niombee’.
KLM Commercial Director for Eastern Africa region Steven van Wijk said in a statement: “Our partnership with Sol Generation is informed by the common vision shared by the two brands of nurturing the next generation talent and giving them impetus to their dreams.”
