Deputy President William Ruto will not only be the Jubilee party presidential candidate in 2022, but he will also clinch the presidency, Aden Duale has said.

The National Assembly leader of Majority said the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga will not deter Ruto from becoming President.

“Come 2022 God willing Jubilee party will only have one presidential candidate that is the deputy president of the  Republic of Kenya William Ruto and come rain come sunshine he will clinch the presidency,” Duale said in Kapsabet during a funds drive over the weekend.

He added: “Those who are trying day and night to deny him presidency through the handshake will not succeed since he has the party support and president Uhuru Kenyatta also promised to serve his 10 years and Ruto’s 10 years.”

The Garissa Township MP also downplayed reports of division within the Jubilee camp terming it as propaganda by the opposition to tarnish the reputation of the ruling party.

“I want to state categorically that Jubilee party is intact and there is no division whatsoever,” he declared.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and his Uasin Gishu counterpart Jackson Mandago echoed Duale’s sentiments.

“President Kenyatta said he will go for ten years and his deputy ten years. We still stand by that and we hope nothing has changed,” said Mandago.
