A trio of suspects arrested over an alleged plan to commit a terror attack on Madaraka Day in Narok County has been arraigned in court.

The suspects are Adan Galhai alias Urisha Galhai, Thomas Okan alias Mbuta, and Abdulmajeed Njenga alias Abdulaziz.

Adan Galhai, who is believed to be resident of Eastleigh in Nairobi, was arrested on Friday, May 31, 2019, by military officers at Narok Stadium on suspicion of engaging in terrorism activities. He is said to have links with Alshabaab terror group.

During his arrest, Adan was reportedly in possession of identification cards bearing the names of ‘National Security’.

The second suspect, Thomas Okan, was arrested on Madaraka Day, June 1, 2019, in Mlango Kubwa estate within Nairobi County. He is said to have been in constant communication with Adan he surveyed the stadium.

The third terror suspect, Mr Njenga had reportedly travelled from Kiembeni, Mombasa to Narok Stadium when he was arrested by military officers. Upon interrogation, he could not explain his presence at the stadium. Detectives believe he has connections with terrorists.

The suspects on Monday appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko who allowed police to detain them longer. Adan Galhai and Thomas were detained for 10 days to allow police complete investigations.

Abdulmajeed will be detained for seven days.
