Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu is a free woman after spending a week in jail over allegations of leaking a sex tape.

The former beauty queen was released on bail Monday, albeit with a stern warning from Kisutu Resident Magistrate Maira Kasonde who cautioned her against skipping further court appearances.

On 18 June 2019, Wema was detained at Segerea prison for seven days after she went against the bond terms in the case where she is accused of leaking a video getting intimate with ex-boyfriend Patrick Christopher aka PCK.

Wema’s lawyer Ruben Simwanza had argued that his client turned up for the court hearing but she developed stomach complications forcing her to leave.

But Magistrate Kasonde issued a warrant of arrest against her leading to her detention for seven days.

On Monday, Kasonde warned Wema Sepetu of dire consequences should she skip court further court appearances.

The Magistrate set the next hearing date for 4, July 2019.
