Father Strangles 5-year-old Son, Injures Daughter in a Fit of Rage Over Sh100

May 2, 2019

A man’s fit of rage ended in tragedy after he attacked his two children, killing his five-year-old son and injuring his daughter in Kirinyaga County.

According to a report seen by this blog, the 36-year-old man went berserk over ‘missing’ Sh100. The man’s wife Madrine Wanja said the deceased child — Maxine Munene — was sent to the shop with a total of Sh200 to buy milk, sukumawiki, tomatoes and other items.

The items, according to the father, would cost Sh65, and therefore, he expected a balance of Sh135.

However, the young Munene brought back Sh35 causing the father to attack him. He allegedly struck the boy several times with a rungu before strangling him to death.

When the boy fell unconscious, the father from hell turned his rage on his seven-year-old daughter, hitting her on the head with the rungu before he fled.

The mother Ms Wanja was at the farm when she heard her children screaming.

“I had gone to the farm and I heard the children screaming. When I rushed to the house I met my son lying on the floor while my daughter was in a bad condition,” said Ms Wanja.

Area chief Joseph Kariuki Ndege confirmed the incident saying police had launched a hunt for the suspect.

The body of the boy was taken to Kerugoya Referral Hospital mortuary while the girl was admitted at Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital.
