April 11, 2019

A mother of a six-year-old girl who was kidnapped by a house-help in Zimmerman is thanking God after she was reunited with her firstborn child.

Police have also arrested the suspect – 24-year-old Sharon Chepkoech – who had demanded Ksh.10,000 ransom. In a text message seen by this blog, the suspect threatened to flee with the baby to Malawi if the ransom wasn’t paid.

The relieved mother, Mary Ndiga, said she employed the suspect only two months ago.

“She had stolen my clothes and had carried a knife in case the money was not sent she said I will never see my baby,” said Ms Ndiga.

“I thank God….she kidnapped my first born and was asking to be sent money or else I will never see my baby again, luckily with help of friends and relatives the phone she was using was tracked and she was arrested…” Ms Ndiga added.

The suspect Ms Chepkoech was grilled by detectives at Kamukunji Police Station before being transferred to Kiamumbi in Kiambu.
