A shocking ordeal straight out of a Hollywood horror movie has left residents of Samoget village in Litein town trembling in fear while demanding answers from relevant authorities.

This after a gang attacked a family of a businessman, killed his wife and gang-raped his three daughters and a housegirl at Litein trading centre on Wednesday morning.

The businessman, Richard Chepkwony, a former councilor nicknamed Mayor survived the ordeal with serious injuries.

Mr Chepkwony, his three daughters, and the housegirl were rushed to Litein AIC Mission Hospital by neighbours who responded to the distress call.

Area locals said neighbours woke up to the rude shock of the gruesome attack and alerted the police.

“It is a gory scene; blood is splattered all over. The police have cordoned off the scene of the crime. It is not known yet what the criminals were after,” said Mr Geoffrey Rono Katares, an area resident.

Litein Divisional Police Commander Ali Abdi confirmed the incident but could not divulge any more details.

Tension was high in the area as angry residents blocked the police from moving the body of the murdered woman from the scene.

They were demanding answers from police in what they described as runaway insecurity in the town.

“People are being murdered and police are doing little to help us end it. We want answers,” said a resident.

The horrific ordeal comes in the wake of a similar attack in the town last year when a teacher and his wife were murdered in cold-blood. A  young child survived the ordeal.
