A family in Nyamira County is in mourning following the shock passing of their son who was sitting for his KCSE examinations.
Keith Mongare, 17, a student at Gesiaga secondary school in Nyamira, died on Monday after writing an exam. According to his parents, the student collapsed in the examination hall shortly after completing the mathematics paper.
The deceased’s father, Joshua Ongaga, said his son was battling a heart-related ailment. He was called to the school shortly after the incident.
“My son has been struggling with a heart problem and was on medication. His last session being at The Mater hospital in Nairobi” Mr Ongaga told reporters.
The boy was rushed to Omboga Nursing Home but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His father said he had escorted him to school in the morning. He looked frail but was in good spirits.
The deceased’s body was taken to Kinara hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem to establish the exact cause of death.
