Six suspected robbers and rapists were on Sunday shot dead by police after gang-raping a woman and robbing a boda-boda rider at Lucky Summer estate in Nairobi.

A police report from Dandora Police Station indicates that the boda-boda rider had picked the woman at Riverside area before they were ambushed by a gang of five men armed with pistols on their way to Lucky Summer at around 2.30am.

The gang reportedly robbed the two of their valuables including mobile phones, handbag, and cash. They then blindfolded the boda-boda rider and gang-raped the woman in turns before escaping with the motorcycle, which had a tracking system installed on it.

Nairobi police boss Joseph Ole Tito said they tracked the gang up to Kifarage area where they were gunned down on Sunday morning following a fierce exchange of fire.

“A report was made and police officers moved fast and with the help of personnel from a tracking company that had fitted a gadget on the said motorcycle located it near Gitwamba sharp corner within Dandora,” said police in a statement.

Tito said the woman was rushed to MSF hospital where she was admitted.

“The suspects have been identified by one of the victims that they had earlier on attacked and robbed. They are all young men,” said Tito.

Police recovered three home-made pistols loaded with rounds of ammunition and all the valuables that were stolen from the victims.
