Maina Kageni and King’ang’i in Trouble as Ezekiel Mutua Cracks Down on Radio Content

Maina Kageni and Daniel Ndambuki alias Mwalimu King’ang’i are some of several Kenyan radio personalities being probed the Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB).

The popular Classic 105 radio presenters are facing possible disciplinary action over what KFCB terms as airing adult content during the watershed period.

KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua Tuesdays aid they are concerned with the increased adult content in free to air radio and TV stations in the country.

Others radio presenters being probed for improper conduct include Radio Jambo’s Joseph ‘Gidi’ Ogidi and Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee.

According to the ‘moral cop’, the content aired by the radio presenters runs contrary to Kenya’s programming code.

Mutua said the Board is consulting with the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) to ensure that the trend is stopped.

The board’s chief executive appealed to media houses to adhere to the terms and conditions stipulated in their broadcast licenses and promote professionalism.

This comes days after KFCB banned two television adverts by Marie Stopes and Pwani Oil’s Fresh Fry for allegedly supporting abortion and containing sexual content respectively.
