February 20, 2018

Annitah Raey is without a doubt one of the more popular voices on Kenyan radio. She started her radio career at Ghetto Radio after being spotted by MajiMaji. She later joined Milele FM before landing at Radio Jambo in 2017.

Despite being such a popular voice on Radio Jambo’s SemaNaRaey programme every weekday from 10 am – 3 pm, little is known about her personal life.

However, that changed after the mother of two took to social media to open up about her heart-wrenching life story.

In a revealing Instagram post on Sunday, Annitah disclosed the hell she went through as a teen. From running away from home at 13 to getting raped at 15, Raey left her fans crushed with the sad tale that went on after she got married at just 17.

According to the radio personality, her husband was abusive before she got a divorce aged 21.

“I ran away from home at 13. I was raped at 15. I got married to a wife batterer at 17. Had my son at 19, and Got divorced at 21,” wrote Annitah.

Using her story to inspire her followers, Raey further revealed that she attempted to take her own life five times.

She said that her life is a testimony to others that God can turn around any kind of hardships.

I have slept on the streets.. I have slept hungry…
I know what it means to lack..
I have cried myself to sleep so many times I lost count.. I have been in a hospital bed for six weeks due to depression and ulcers
I have tried suicide five times… I have been so broken I never thought I would see another day.. But look at me.. Look at me and understand that when God wants to use you to glorify himself then he will do exactly that.. I am a loving testimony that when God Says Yes.. Nobody can say no
So before you pass judgment walk a mile in my shoe..
