Barely six months after Kenyans participated in one of the most strenuous electioneering periods in history, the political climate now is as we have come to expect; politicians aligning themselves ahead of the next one. It is the sad reality of the state of Kenyan politics.

While the 2022 talk has largely been dominated by the occupancy of the top seat, with Deputy President William Ruto being the firm favorite, other politicians have started eyeing plum jobs in his anticipated cabinet.

One of those politicians is Kalembe Ndile who claims to have the required educational qualification to be the Devolution Cabinet Secretary.

Speaking in Kibwezi last weekend, the former MP said he is confident he will be appointed the Devolution CS in the next Government.

He noted the recent appointment of Rashid Achesa as Sports CS despite being a standard eight drop out.

“I now see CSs with Standard Eight education serving the nation. I have since joined university to study for a bachelor’s degree. I don’t think serving in the Cabinet requires one to be highly educated. I think it’s about being able to deliver on development promises,” said the former Kibwezi MP.

Kalembe, who emerged second in the race for Mavoko MP last year, further suggested that Ruto picks either Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko or Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua to be his running mate.

“Leaders from Ukambani who can ascend to the position of deputy president are two: Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Machakos counterpart Dr Alfred Mutua. I urge the politician I support for the presidency in 2022, William Ruto, to choose one of those two. I will be the CS for Devolution under Ruto’s government,” added Kalembe.
