Award-winning Kenyan Afro-pop band Sauti has just kickstarted its music mission to be the gift that keeps on giving.
The ‘Sura Yako’ hitmakers are on a mission to release a collaborative project with an African star every month for the next one year. That makes for about a dozen hit tracks for the band’s forthcoming LP ‘Afrikan Sauce.’
‘Afrikan Sauce’ is a continuation from where the MTV EMA award winners left off in their third album ‘Live and Die in Afrika.’
Their first collabo is here with the quartet tapping the equally high-flying and talented Nigerian hitmaker Patoranking whose music has been well received in Kenya and across the continent.
These two music heavyweights have teamed for a new hit track dubbed ‘Melanin.’ The title is rather self-explanatory and sees the stars celebrate and appreciate black skin on women.
‘Melanin’ is written by Sauti Sol & Patoranking and co-written by the talented singer/songwriter Nviiri Sande. Production is by Sauti Sol and mastering by Ralf Petter.
The steamy and picturesque visuals are directed by the able hands of renowned Nigerian music video director Clarence Peters.
This is a big tune and we can’t wait for the next projects. In the meantime, we are definitely loving ‘Melanin’ and you probably will.
Watch below. This will definitely rule the airwaves during the upcoming festivities.
