Mombasa County governor Ali Hassan Joho is off the hook from investigation and possible prosecution over forgery accusations.

The Sultan was being investigated for allegedly forging his KSCE certificate, which he used to gain admission into the University of Nairobi.

Mombasa High Court Judge Justice Erick Ogola ruled that the probe was meant to discredit Joho.

“Joho’s rights were violated, abused and breached,” said Ogola.

He added that the matter was influenced by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s utterances about Joho.

“The state agencies coming after Joho…seem to be nyorosha-ing (disciplining) him,” Ogola added.

The Judge also questioned the timing of the investigation considering a similar matter against Joho in 2013.
