A form four student has been arrested in Makueni County for being in possession of papers believed to be for this year’s KCSE examination.
The Kitondo Boys Secondary School candidate was arrested on Monday night and locked up at Mbumbuni police station. According to Mbooni East OCPD Peter Njeru, images of the documents were found in the learner’s WhatsApp account on his phone.
The OCPD said the images were forwarded to the Kenya National Examination headquarters in Nairobi for scrutiny.
“We have confiscated the phone [and sent the content] to the KNEC CEO in Nairobi for further investigations. The student will remain in our custody until we receive reports from KNEC,” said the OCPD.
The student was presented to police by school principal Pascal Musyimi.
The OCPD said they might make more arrests as the student mentioned other suspects. He said that they had been sharing information through a WhatsApp group known as ‘Team 2017.’
“We will carry out further investigations and bring to book all those spreading the content. They will all be charged.”
