Apparently, Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino was good friends with the late Libyan President, Muammar Gaddafi.

The new legislator, who caused drama after he invoked Raila Odinga’s name during his swearing in ceremony in Parliament on Thursday, revealed that Gaddafi used to finance his life and political activities.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Babu added that when Gaddafi passed on, he was left a ‘financial orphan’.

The Embakasi East MP was addressing questions about the source of his wealth, a topic which has often been a subject of debate.

“Long ago, Libya’s late president, Muammar Gadaffi used to be my best friend, and he used to finance me.

“When he passed on, I was left a financial orphan and decided to look for other international friends,” said Babu.

Asked who these international friends are, Babu declined to disclose.

““I would not disclose them because when I reveal their identity, they are killed – just like what they did to Gaddafi,” said Babu Owino.
