It was a tragic end for a woman on Tuesday morning after she was hit by a speeding car along Valley Road.
Despite multiple warnings from authorities, the woman was crossing the road right under the footbridge. She died on the spot.
The 6:30 am accident caused a heavy traffic snarl-up on the road.
According to police, there have been many pedestrian deaths witnessed on the same spot. It is not the only footbridge in Nairobi ignored by pedestrians, and very often, there is a tragic end.
The government recently conducted a mass media campaign to encourage Kenyans to use provided footbridges. It is unclear however whether the statistics have gone down since.
