Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has accused Wiper governor aspirant Wavinya Ndeti of sabotaging garbage collection in the county.

According to Mutua, Wavinya has been sponsoring county employees to deliberately dump garbage in the county so as to make him look inefficient.

“I have established that Wavinya Ndeti has been sponsoring county employees to sabotage the garbage collection program in the county and even organizing for lorries of garbage from Nairobi county to be coming to dump garbage in Machakos county,” said Mutua.

“All these is being done so that I can look inefficient and to manufacture propaganda. It does not make sense that for four years Machakos has been the cleanest county in Kenya and all of a sudden a few months to the elections I am unable to collect garbage,” added the Governor.

Mutua was speaking on Monday at KMC estate, Athi River, where he launched the county’s garbage clean-up program.

He said vehicles meant for garbage collection in the county have been grounded after cartels squandered funds allocated for their repair.

”This sabotage has seen county equipment, especially in Mavoko sub-county disabled, fuel money stolen, allowances for staff eaten and garbage dumped on roads,” Mutua added.

“Shame on you Wavinya Ndeti for endangering the health and lives of our residents and our children. Shame on you!”

The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader said the chief officer in charge of Solid Waste Management and Sanitation, Collins Sila, has been moved to the Special Programmes Department under the office of the county secretary.
