SAD! BBC News Anchor Sophie Ikenye Bereaved

The family of Sophie Ikenye is in mourning following the passing of the BBC anchor’s father.

The BBC World News Focus On Africa producer and presenter took to Facebook to inform her followers that her dad, Stephen Uno, who hails from Matathia area, had passed on.

She, however, did not reveal the circumstances leading to his death.

The Kenyan-born journalist who is based London eulogized him as a man who “has fulfilled the purpose for which he was created.”

Uno was the father to Sophie Ikenye, Ikenye Kemu, Njeri Ikenye and Ngugi Ikenye.

The former NTV anchor also thanked her fans and followers for their messages of condolensces.

“I’d like to thank you for your kind messages. I have read them and I don’t take your thoughts for granted. Thank you. For those who have been asking, Family and friends are meeting at St. Andrews church, Nairobi, New Hall, Block 4 from 5:30 pm and others at home in Matathia. See you soon,” wrote Sophie.

Sophie joined BBC in 2009 as a presenter on Focus of Africa on BBC World Service Radio.
