May 17, 2017

A 34-year-old man on Sunday allegedly slashed his girlfriend to death at Kanjatiri Village in Embu East after the woman expressed disinterest in continuing their relationship.

According to Embu East OCPD, Mathew Muchemi, the suspect, Justin Kyalo, lured Lawrencia Njeri Njeru with the promise of school fees for her child.

Mr Muchemi said the suspect phoned Ms Njeri requesting to meet her so that he could give her the money.

Njeri agreed to meet the suspect and was accompanied by her friend Justa Karimi Njue.

Upon arriving at the meeting point – Kanjatiri Market- at 6:30 pm on Sunday, Karimi left the lovebirds to talk.

The police boss said Karimi then heard screams of pain by Njeri a few minutes into the couple’s conversation.

When she rushed to the scene, she found Kyalo slashing Njeri with a panga.

Karimi said she raised an alarm but by the time residents were arriving at the scene, Kyalo had already escaped to a nearby mango plantation.

The deceased sustained deep cuts in the legs, lower jaw and in the back of her neck. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karurumo Health Centre.

According to sources, Kyalo set up the trap after getting wind that Njeri was planning to end their relationship.

They were reportedly having issues in their relationship.

Njeri had a child from a previous relationship whom Kyalo had agreed to provide for.

A manhunt has since been launched for Kyalo.
