There was drama in Bahati, Nakuru County on Wednesday after a Great White Pelican bird fell from a powerline after it was electrocuted.

The gigantic white bird caused a stir in the town as residents tried to make out what it was. It was discovered on Wednesday evening at around 6 pm.

The bird’s presence in the area attracted a huge crowd that was apprehensive of approaching it.

However, one Rosemary Wanjiku mastered enough courage and approached the bird but it pecked her on the chest.

She then locked the bird inside her compound overnight and cooked ugali using a kilogram of maize flour to feed it but it refused to feed.

Wanjiku now wants the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to refund her the money she used to buy the maize flour.

She said she has not been able to go work since people have been flocking her home to catch a glimpse of the bird.

Locals suspect the bird might have originated from Lake Solai, which is located nearly 20 kilometers away.
