March 3, 2017

The hotly contested Nairobi gubernatorial race continues to elicit a heated debate whenever the topic is brought up.

Early this week, former Nation FM radio presenter Ciru Muriuki tweeted an online poll with four choices for Nairobi governor: Incumbent Dr Evans Kidero, Nairobi senator Mike Sonko, Peter Kenneth and an avocado.

After over 800 votes, the avocado emerged winner with 47% of the total votes. Peter Keneth came second followed by Evans Kidero, with Sonko the least favorite.

While the poll was posted as a joke according to Ciku, Kenyans on Twitter, mostly Miguna Miguna followers came out in numbers to not only question why their ‘savior’ was not included in the poll but to bash Ciku.

The debate caught the attention of Miguna Miguna who came out guns blazing against Ciku and called her a ‘cartel surrogate’ and an ‘alien.’

Here’s a thread of the tweets and some reactions from twitter users:
