First aiders attend to the man who committed suicide after jumping into sea from MV Likoni

A man on Monday took his own life by jumping into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Ferry crossing channel.

The unidentified threw himself into the sea while aboard the ferry christened MV Likoni.

Confirming the incident, Likoni police boss Willy Simba said the deceased is yet to be identified as he did not have a ID card on him.

He said Kenya Ferry Services divers’ attempts to save the man’s life were futile.

“They went after him immediately, pulled him out of the water and administered first aid but it was already too late,” Simba said.

His body was taken to the Coast General Hospital mortuary.
