She may have been crowned Miss World Kenya 2016 in less than ideal circumstances, but Evelyn Njambi has gone and represented the country impressively at the just concluded 66th Miss World 2016 pageant held in the U.S.
Evelyn Njambi ascended to the coveted Kenyan crown following the dethronement of Roshanara Ebrahim due to a breach of in the code of conduct and contract pertaining to the leak of her nude pictures.
Evelyn Njambi Thungu, who was Miss World Kenya Kiambu County, strutted her stuff at this year’s pageant and managed to finish in the top 5. She was also the only African in the top ten finalists.
Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle was crowned Miss World 2016 on Sunday winning the top prize.
Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic was first runner-up followed by second runner-up Natasha Mannuela from Indonesia.
Contestants from more than 100 countries took part in the pageant held at National Harbor near Washington, D.C.
Ms Njambi expressed her gratitude to Kenyans for finishing fourth saying, “Grateful to God for top 5. Super humbled. Thank you Kenya and world for praying and voting.”
