Two university students suspected to have masterminded the kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy have been charged with kidnapping and attempting to kill a minor.
Levis Oduor, 21, and 22-year old Edwin Ogola abducted Wallace Rabudi at Funguo estate in Lang’ata, Nairobi, last Sunday. They have been accused of torturing the minor who is now admitted at a Nairobi Hospital while demanding a ransom of half a million shillings from Rabudi’s parents.
The two suspects are said to have taken the minor from the lawful guardianship of Mark Rabudi, with the help of others who were not in court.
Levis Oduor -victim’s cousin- faced a second charge of attempting to cause his death.
Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Joyce Gandani heard from the prosecution that Oduor strangled the boy and hit his head against a rock.
They both denied the charges that included demanding a Sh500,000 ransom from the minor’s guardian.
The prosecution argued against releasing the suspects on bail saying they would interfere with witnesses.
Joyce Gandani ordered the suspects to be remanded until January 23 when the case will be heard.
