A day after Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo fired insults at President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Head of State has taken the high road and responded by sending her Christmas greetings and New Year best wishes.
The president, however, did ostensibly call the legislator an ‘idiot’ in a thinly veiled response on Tuesday evening while presiding over the historic lighting of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
“To my left is the National Assembly representing our democracy and the ability of some idiots in there to continue insulting me, but that is their freedom…,” said Uhuru.
But, Uhuru’s class came on Wednesday when he sent Mille Odhiambo a Christmas card.
The card has a photo of President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and is embossed in gold.
“Christmas is here again – a time to remember and apply our shared values of compassion, sharing and communism.
“We share this holiday with all people of all persuasions because what we celebrate are cherished universal human impulses.
“Often, what we see as our differences are only expressions of problems that can be resolved through a commitment to good will, love, peace and unity. Let the holidays bring us closer to each other so that we can lighten our burdens and brighten our journey.
“To you, your family and everyone you love, Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year,” reads the message.
