Wedding bells are ringing for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son Jomo and fiancee Fiona Achola with the First Family set to host Achola’s family and close family friends in the final stage of the Kikuyu bride price payment ceremonies this weekend.
The First Family sent out invitation cards late last week to close family friends, prominent personalities for the Itara ceremony to be held in Ichaweri, Gatundu on November 12.
Itara is a Kikuyu traditional ceremony where the soon to be bride’s family visits her groom’s home to see where their daughter will be staying once she gets married.
The ceremony is usually the last stage of the Kikuyu bride price payment ceremonies.
The Itara comes two weeks after the two families held another traditional wedding at Fiona’s parents’ Miotioni home in Nairobi’s Karen estate on October 22.
The couple’s white wedding is slated for early next year.
