A KCSE invigilator at Gagra Secondary school suffered injuries to his arm and leg after he was shot by a police officer assigned to secure exams at the institution.
Simon Ongiti was treated at Bondo sub-county hospital following the Thursday 10.45am incident.
Siaya County Police Coordinator Chripus Mutali said the officer identified as Benson Asesa was withdrawn from the examination centre and arrested.
Following the incident, candidates had to be counselled before they sat their mid-morning paper.
“The officer has already recorded a statement. We are waiting to identify the degree of the injury before the teacher can file a case,” Mutali said as quoted by The Star.
Police launched investigations to determine whether the shooting was accidental or intentional.
