Two candidates from Soweto Baptist Secondary School in Kibera, Nairobi are writing their KCSE exams at the Kilimani Police Station over alleged robbery with violence.
Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome said the two suspects were found with a homemade gun and two bullets after they robbed a man of a laptop valued at Ksh 250,000, a mobile phone valued at Ksh 53,000, an external hard drive of street value Ksh 15,000 and black rubber shoes among other items.
One of the suspects, identified as Alibi ‘Garang’ was arrested wearing the black rubber shoes stolen from their victim.
After interrogation, Garang turned his accomplices in and led the police to arrest the other two suspects – one of them identified as Kevin Mwangi, aged 26. The two had taken the stolen laptop and phone for formatting to clear any information belonging to the victim.
Police recovered two homemade guns with two bullets, a stolen phone, and a perfume allegedly belonging to their victim and four rolls of bhang after ransacking their house.
A manhunt has been launched by police for another student from Kangemi High School who is alleged to be part of the gang that has been terrorizing Kibera residents.
