A Belgian tourist was on Monday, October 17 killed by an elepahnt at the Maasai Mara National Game Reserve.
Duchenne Henry Floris Ghistan, 63, was on a leisure walk with his two friends at Talek area in the Mara when they encountered a herd of elephants.
One of the jumbos is said to have been agitated by the ‘strangers’ when it crushed him.
Narok South Police boss, Phillip Kipkirui, said the victim was rushed to Talek Health Center shortly after the attack but succumbed to his injuries.
Mr. Duchenne was reportedly married to a local Maasai woman in Talek where they run a leisure home that hosts tourists visiting Maasai Mara.
His body was moved to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary.
